The Mirny (Мирный ) Station is a formerly Soviet, Russian Antarctic science station.

It was named after the support vessel Mirny, captained by Mikhail Lazarev, during the first Russian Antarctic Expedition led by famed Russian naval officer Fabian Gottlieb Thaddeus von Bellingshausen.

Mirny Station was the Soviet Union’s first station on the Antarctic continent and represented the ambition and dedication of the Soviet Union to the research and exploration of one of the most interesting, yet formidable places on Earth.
